Within Enterprise Excellence, the Enterprise Business Services (EBS) team is a Center of Expertise (COE) providing business services and capabilities that drive the ideation and enable execution of Enterprise Excellence initiatives across Medtronic.


The Strategic Transformation Senior Manager will play a key role as a critical member of the EBS Strategic Transformation team. The role will serve as an transformation advisor and excution partner providing hands-on support to Medtronic stakeholders within a specific function or group. The work involves understanding the strategic imperatives of the function / group supported, designing programs that enable achievement of desired outcomes, and enabling deployment of  alternate delivery models (Shared Services/ COEs, Process Excellence, Automation, BPO).

This role will report directly to the Portfolio Leader, Strategic Transformation. 

A Day in the Life

In this fast-paced, highly collaborative role, you will:

  • Partner with the Portfolio Leader to understand the strategic imperatives of the functions or business groups supported.
  • Evangelize the need for operating model transformation and alternate delivery platforms (Shared Services / COEs, Process Excellence, BPO and Automation ) within Global Functions and the company.
  • Support ideation and solution design in partnership with stakeholders for key initiatives ensuring transformative, high-quality solutions aligned with Enterprise Excellence imperatives and EBS goals.
  • Provide end to end support to Enterprise Excellence teams and their internal customers in the development of detailed solutions including services to be provided, location selection, Captive/BPO/Automation decisions, high level business case etc.
  • Provide BPO engagement support to include - advise and facilitate vendor selection, RFPs, negotiations, finalization of contract terms in partnership with the enterprise procurement team and transition.
  • Support development of Transition plans and documentation in accordance with  the Transition framework and playbook for migrating work to BPO vendors or Global In-house Centers.
  • Provide oversight to all Transition related activities in Collaboration with the Business Unit / functional partners from Solution Design to completion of transition (including adherence to scope, schedule and budget requirements).
  • Actively drive Transition Governance and reporting and ensure appropriate  risk identification (e.g FMEA, BIA etc.) and issue escalation during transition.
  • Provide accurate and timely communication to senior internal /external stakeholders on project deliverables.
  • Escalate issues as needed to appropriate levels of management and follow-through to resolve issues
  • Partner with Vendor Management to ensure that projects have smooth hand-off from transition to steady-state.
  • Organize and maintain project documentation within the common EBS repository
  • Travel requirement: 20%
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience
Nice to Have
  • Providing advisory, consulting and/or solution design support to a stakeholder group(s)
  • BPO partner selection, management and/or engagement
  • Leading a transition function, providing oversight to a portfolio of transition mangers or driving multiple concurrent transitions
  • Developing and/or tracking a project with Microsoft Project or PPM
  • Developing workflows using Visio
  • Drafting and interpreting BPO Contracts (e.g. MSAs, SOWs, Amendments, Change Orders) and Shared Services engagements
  • Continuous improvement (Lean / Six Sigma)
  • Ability to work independently, or in groups, as the lead participant; ability to work well with Business Leads, Process Managers, Vendors and End Users in cross functional / matrixed environments
  • Self-starter, comfortable working in a dynamic environment with competing priorities
  • Experience working in matrixed teams responsible for influencing and communicating at all levels within the organization
  • Lifesciences Industry Experience
  • Success as an advisor, project team participant and/or internal change agent supporting large complex programs within large matrixed oriented corporations or leading consulting/ BPO organizations.
  • A proven and trusted advisor who understands both the qualitative and quantitative benefits of actions and opportunities for the function they serve as well as the function’s stakeholders.
  • Confident and assertive style, but respectful of others.  Must be team oriented and able to adjust leadership style to maximize effectiveness.
  • High integrity and ethics.
