At the Bakken Research Center about 300 clinical researchers, scientists and technical engineers cooperate closely with medical specialists in and outside of Europe to develop new and improve existing therapies in Cardiac Rhythm Disease Management, Cardiovascular Surgery, Neuromodulation and Diabetes.


We offer you a role as a student worker (chemical engineering intern or chemistry Intern) at the Danish laboratory supporting various project. In Horsholm we are primarily working on biochemical sensor projects both optical and electrochemical sensors. Medtronic has a need to build components for the current assays, characterization of the assay components and making and testing of the sensors.


•          Modification and conjugation of macromolecules (grafting, staining, capping etc.)

•          Analysis of prepared conjugates (spectroscopic methods)

•          Building and testing assays

•          Making and testing sensors in custom made test systems

•          Working with surfactants, hydrogels and polymers

•          Keeping inventory up to date

•          Data mining and data presenting

Your work place will be the Danish lab site situated in Scion DTU in Hørsholm.

Together with BRC R&T Scientists Team, you will under supervision carry out standard and advanced chemistry procedures in the laboratory. Further the assembly of sensor prototypes and setting up test in costum built systems will be part of the required work package.



•          Bachelor or master level chemistry student

•          Likes to perform tasks in the laboratory in an orderly and accurate way

•          Good at documenting the work and being observant while working in the laboratory

•          Capable of changing from one task to the next if needed

•          Knowledge on standard spectroscopy methods (UV-Vis, NMR, MS etc.)

•          Good English skills, oral and writing

You are a self starter with good analytical skills and are able to develop your laboratory and chemistry design skills. You know when to ask for supervision. You are positive, enthusiastic and flexible.


The job is a part time temporay position aimed at giving (engineering) students oportunity to develop their skills in a in a work environment. Working hours 10-20 hours per week  and flexible in periods with high work load at the university.
