Medtronic is currently seeking a Sr. Supplier Quality Engineering Manager

 

This position has the responsibility and authority to plan, direct and implement processes, plans and operations to deliver supplier quality assurance to product and service requirements.  This position reports to Restorative Therapies Group (RTG) Supplier Quality.

The Restorative Therapies Group develops life-restoring therapies and healthcare solutions that span the care continuum; integrating technologies and applying clinical and economic evidence to increase patient access, improve efficiency of procedures and deliver successful patient outcomes.

 

A Day in the Life

 

•Strategic and tactical management of the ENT Supplier Quality Engineering organization as aligned with RTG Supplier Quality

•Provide Supplier Quality Engineering leadership for manufacturing sites in Jacksonville FL, Mystic CT, and Eatontown NJ.

•Process Development and Product Qualification of supplier product for New Product Introductions, including product acceptance strategies

•Manage and resolve supplier quality performance issues in conjunction with site functions.

•Support or lead continuous improvement initiatives driving supplier risk reduction (i.e. Go Green, First Time Quality, Quality Begins with Me, Supplier Owned Quality).

 

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Plans, directs and implements all aspects of the company's design and development of new medical device products or software systems.
  • May develop, evaluate, implement and maintain technical quality assurance and control systems or reliability systems and standards pertaining to materials, techniques, or company products.
  • Oversees the investigation and evaluation of existing technologies.
  • Guides the conceptualization of new methodologies, materials, machines, processes or products.
  • Directs the development of new concepts from initial design to market release.
  • Manages feasibility studies of the design to determine if capable of functioning as intended.
  • Monitors documentation maintenance throughout all phases of research and development.
  • Organizes the coordination of activities with outside suppliers and consultants to ensure timely delivery.
  • Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Must Have:

EDUCATION REQUIRED:  

•Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical or biomedical engineering or related field.

 

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 

•Minimum of 7 years of related experience with 5+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience

 

Nice to Have – (Preferred Qualifications):

 

•Master’s degree in mechanical, electrical or biomedical engineering or related field and a minimum 5 years of related experience.

•Progressive leadership experience in functional area or related field.

•Strong communication skills, both oral and written.

•Good interpersonal skills.

•Skillful in formulating strategies, tactics and action plans to achieve results.

•Strong focus on developing an organizational culture that fosters teamwork.

•Ability to work in a fast paced environment.

•Ability to effectively influence key decision makers.

•Ability to work well under pressure and maintain positive, enthusiastic attitude. 

•Travel may be required.
