Transformation Program Manager

Business Unit: Global Supply Chain S4S Transformation


This role is funded through April of 2022, with the intention to establish a permanent role within Global Supply Chain once the transformation program is complete. The permanent role has not yet been approved, and if it is not approved and you are employed though the date the role is funded you will be eligible to receive severance in accordance with the terms of Medtronic’s Severance Pay Plan in effect at the time of termination

The Global Supply Chain organization is seeking a Program Manager responsible for program leadership with the Simply for Success (S4S) initiative.  This position will provide program management to an assigned supply chain area, partnering closely with process leadership (Enterprise Process Owners and Enterprise Process Leads), change management/communication/knowledge management experts and their peer program managers to develop robust project plans.  The role must understand key interdependencies and ensure alignment of work efforts across various workstreams, groups and regions, continuously assessing and refining approaches and plans while ensuring good communication across the program.  The role is also responsible for the successful execution of the activities by leading and directing the project efforts through a mix of dedicated team members and assigned business resources.  In addition, this position will be a key point of escalation in resolution of program issues and risks, working closely with senior leadership across groups and regions to mitigate and resolve them.

This position will work within a matrixed organization, reporting to the Director, GSC Program Management Office.  This role requires strong leadership skills, analysis, communication, and stakeholder management to deliver expected results in a rapidly-changing, fast-paced environment.


A Day in the Life
•Be an integral part of the S4S Transformation Workstream team and a partner to Workstream leaders and Enterprise Process Leads.
•Partner with the Program Management Office Director to develop and execute the projects using best-in-class methodologies, including managing through structured gate reviews
•Help prepare presentation materials to support program activities and stakeholder engagements for the S4S teams and key stakeholders.
•Responsible for active management of all Workstream issues and identifying those associated with program interdependence; escalates issues to senior program leadership as appropriate.
•Partner with S4S leadership to identify resource needs and key milestones for benefit achievement based on project plans.
•Partner with change and communication leadership to incorporate key deliverables and milestones into the overall project plan; support communications and change management activities and issues.
•Build and maintain active, collaborative relationships with all members of the S4S initiative and in the business.
•Support Workstream leaders with planning and executing workshops and face-to-face sessions.
•Responsible for weekly, monthly, and quarterly dashboards/reports for program and functional stakeholders / leadership.

Travel- less than 25%

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience

Nice to Have
•Demonstrated ability to lead large, single or cross-functional project teams
•Experience providing work direction and guidance to team members
•Experience with Project Management principles, concepts, practices and standards
•Experience working in matrixed teams responsible for influencing and communicating across many levels of the organization
•Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
•Strong communication skills
•Advanced degree
•PMP certification
•Experience with Portfolio Management tools/solutions, preferably Microsoft Project Online
•Experience collecting and interpreting data and developing analytic reports
•Experience with business process improvement and/or Lean Sigma Belt certification
•Experience in medical devices or other regulated industry
•Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving and decision making skills
•Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with employees, consultants and senior management
•Strong results orientation (driving to deadlines, financial targets, project goals, etc.)
•Ability to partner and work collaboratively in a matrixed organization
•Demonstrated ability to work across many levels of an organization
•Demonstrated ability to work in a virtual organization
